1. Garbage and recycling on Wednesday.
All City offices and facilities are closed on Monday October 8th for the Thanksgiving holiday. NO WASTE COLLECTION on Monday, so garbage and recycling will be picked up on Wednesday, October 10th, this week only. For more information:

a. The Georgestown Cafe and Bookshelf ( are open 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. from Monday to Saturday, and from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. 73 Hayward Avenue, 709-579-7134.

b. The Georgestown Bakery is open from Tuesday until Friday, from 7:00 until 5:30 p.m., and on Saturday from 7:00 until 3:00. Bagels, baguettes, breads of many varieties as well as sweets! 60 Hayward Avenue, 753-8099.

c. The Hungry Heart Cafe ( . 142 Military Road, 738-6164. The cafe is open Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Closed on Saturday and Sunday.
