Happy Thanksgiving to all of you from all of us at the Georgestown Neighbourhood Association Board!

Notice from GNA:
Long-time resident of Georgestown Anne Hart has passed away in Victoria, B.C. From 1969 until 1997, Anne was a librarian at Memorial University, and for 20 of those years, she was head of the Centre for Newfoundland Studies. She is better known for her unconventional biographies of Agatha Christie’s Miss Jane Marple and Hercule Poirot. More recently, she collaborated with another Georgestown resident, Dr. Roberta Buchanan, and Bryan Greene on “The Woman Who Mapped Labrador: The Life and Expedition Diary of Mina Hubbard.” On public boards, committees, guilds and councils, at private meetings at her home, legendary dinner parties, and marathon bridge games, Anne nurtured and promoted established and aspiring writers, steadfastly championed the rights of women, and worked tirelessly for those seeking to contribute to the cultural and political life of this province. She will be sorely missed.
