1. SAVE THE DATE: The annual Georgestown neighbourhood skating party. Sunday, December 30th, at 1:00 at St. Bon’s Forum.

Skating will be from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. with a social to follow upstairs afterwards! Admission by donation (suggestion: $5). A non-perishable food-bank item would be greatly appreciated. COME OUT FOR THE EVENT OF THE SEASON!!!

a. THIS WEEK!! Tea and Scrabble for a Good Cause. Saturday, December 1st from 2:00 until 4:30 p.m.
Organized by the Terra Nova Grandmothers and Grandothers, this is a time to play scrabble, drink tea and coffee, eat delicious treats, and win prizes. Come as a team or find a partner there. Bring a board and a 4th-edition dictionary; a few will be available. Help grandmothers in Africa raise their grandchildren orphaned by AIDS. Proceeds will be donated to the Stephen Lewis Foundation’s Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign. Overflow parking available at the Basilica.

b. Better Breathing Choir. Wednesdays, 7:00 until 8:30 p.m.

c. Iyengar Yoga Classes.

d. T’ai Chi Chi and Chow Qigong.
Classes cancelled this week only due to a death in the family. Classes resume November 13th.

5. St. John’s Tool Library. (151 Empire Avenue) Tuesdays 5:30 until 8:30 p.m.; Thursdays from 2:30 until 8:30; and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. During opening hours, call them at 709-754-8665.

6. Ordinary Spokes: bike repair for all. 151 Empire Avenue. (at the Tool Library). Thursday from 5:30 until 8:30 p.m.

7. Eating in Georgestown.
a. The Georgestown Café and Bookshelf are open 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. from Monday to Saturday, and from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. 73 Hayward Avenue, 709-579-7134.

b. The Georgestown Bakery, 60 Hayward Avenue, is open from Tuesday until Friday, from 7:00 until 5:30 p.m., and on Saturday from 7:00 until 3:00. Bagels, baguettes, breads of many varieties as well as sweets! 753-8099.

c. The Hungry Heart Café,142 Military Road, 738-6164. The cafe is open Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Closed on Saturday and Sunday.

d. The Rooms Café. 9 Bonaventure Avenue.
i. Opening hours. Monday CLOSED; Tuesday 10 am – 5 pm; Wednesday 10 am – 9 pm; Thursday 10 am – 5 pm; Friday 10 am – 10 pm (Archives close at 5); Saturday 10 am – 5 pm; and Sunday Noon – 5 pm (Archives closed)
Afternoon Tea. Wednesdays, 3:00-5:00 p.m. A selection of fine teas, sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and preserves, pastries and sweets. Call 757-8097 to reserve your seating.
