1. Burger Fest at the Hungry Heart
The Hungry Heart Café is participating in the inaugural Burger & Brew Festival ( from March 1-31. Stop by the Café to taste our festival feature, the Moose & Manchego burger. Packed with local ingredients, this 5-oz moose patty is topped with caramelized onions, Manchego cheese, and Romesco sauce on our house made potato bun. Use #BurgerBrewNL and tag @burgerbrewNL to enter the weekly social media best photo contest and help show off the Hungry Heart Café!

2. The Tightrope of Work/Life Balance
Stella’s Cricle’s third session of the Women’s Mental Wellness Speaker Series is coming up on Monday, March 23rd, 7:00-9:00pm. Do you struggle to manage expectations at work along with family and relationship pressures? Is the concept of work/life balance a myth, or is it possible to keep your head where your feet are? This session will teach you practical strategies and skills to improve your work/life balance. The session will address factors that negatively impact work/life balance and explore areas for improvement. Learn how life can be easier when we slow down and become more thoughtful in choosing, reducing and prioritizing tasks.

3. Heritage Financial Incentives Program
Most if not all buildings in Georgestown are located in one of St. John’s three Heritage Areas and are therefore eligible for the City’s Heritage Financial Incentives Program. Applications are accepted between March 1st and May 1st and can be found on the City of St. John’s website:

Holy Heart Theatre to Suspend Events Amid COVID-19 Risks

Dr. Janice Fitzgerald, Chief Medical Officer of Health, has recommended all non-essential gatherings or events of 250 people or more should be cancelled or postponed. Effective immediately, all theatre events at Holy Heart Theatre have been suspended until further notice.

We at the Holy Heart Theatre, are working very hard to re-schedule performances and tours, and we ask ticket buyers to be patient. Please hold on to your tickets until we can provide postponed performance dates. Your understanding at this time is appreciated.

b. Ordinary Spokes: bike repair for all. You can tune up your bike, meet other cyclists, or purchase an affordable refurbished bike.

c. St. John’s Baby Clothes Library. A new library is set to open in St. John’s later this fall for sharing baby clothes, from size preemie to 2T. Clothes will be able to be picked up and dropped off at the St. John’s Tool Library during its hours of operation.

8. Eating in Georgestown
a. The Georgestown Café and Bookshelf, 73 Hayward Ave, 579-7134. Open 8:00am until 5:00pm from Monday to Saturday, and from 10:00am until 5:00pm on Sunday.
b. The Georgestown Bakery, 60 Hayward Ave, 753-8099. Open from Tuesday until Friday, from 7:00 until 5:30pm, and on Saturday from 7:00 until 3:00. Bagels, baguettes, breads of many varieties as well as sweets!
c. The Hungry Heart Café, 142 Military Rd, 738-6164. Open Tuesday to Saturday, from 8:00am until 3:00pm. Brunch is served on Saturday.
d. The Rooms Café, 9 Bonaventure Ave. Open Monday 10am‑5pm; Tuesday 10am‑5pm; Wednesday 10am – 9 pm; Thursday 10am-5pm; Friday 10am‑10pm (Archives close at 5); Saturday 10am‑5pm; and Sunday Noon‑5pm (Archives closed).
