2. Mummer’s Festival PSA: Recruiting Volunteers for the Mummers Parade
The Mummers Festival is still looking for volunteers for Parade Day, December 14th, 2019. They are in need of parade marshals, set up and clean up squads, and more! Volunteers receive a fancy schmancy Festival t-shirt as a thank you. Sign up online by visiting ( and click on the “Get Involved” link.

3. Mummer’s Parade
The Mummers Parade is coming Saturday, Dec 14th.and will kick off at The Lantern this year! Rig-up will start at 1:00pm, and the official parade will leave at 2:00pm, with scuff ‘n scoff to follow back at The Lantern after. For more information, visit:

4. Caroling in Georgestown
David Brake is creating (or reviving?) a Georgestown Christmas tradition–door to door carol singing! Anyone who would like to join is welcome, including kids of all ages. No prior singing experience is necessary, just enthusiasm. Carolers will meet Saturday, December 14, 5:30pm, at 8 Barnes Road for a short run-through before going out around 6:00 for about 1/2 hour. Words will be provided. Wrap up warmly feel free to dress as mummers! If you have questions or you would particularly like us to visit your house (figgy pudding would always be welcome!), you can contact David by email,, or phone, (709) 351-4618.

5. L’Arche Avalon annual Christmas Social
L’Arche Avalon is inviting you to their annual Christmas social on Sunday, Dec 15th, 2:30-4:30pm for a time of food, fellowship, and song (led by the fabulous Potluck Singers). There will also be a Christmas Puzzle Contest! For more information, visit:

c. St. John’s Baby Clothes Library. A new library is set to open in St. John’s later this fall for sharing baby clothes, from size preemie to 2T. Clothes will be able to be picked up and dropped off at the St. John’s Tool Library during its hours of operation.

a. The Georgestown Café and Bookshelf, 73 Hayward Ave, 579-7134. Open 8:00am until 5:00pm from Monday to Saturday, and from 10:00am until 5:00pm on Sunday.
b. The Georgestown Bakery, 60 Hayward Ave, 753-8099. Open from Tuesday until Friday, from 7:00 until 5:30pm, and on Saturday from 7:00 until 3:00. Bagels, baguettes, breads of many varieties as well as sweets!
c. The Hungry Heart Café, 142 Military Rd, 738-6164. Open Tuesday to Saturday, from 8:00am until 3:00pm. Brunch is served on Saturday.
d. The Rooms Café, 9 Bonaventure Ave. Open Monday 10am‑5pm; Tuesday 10am‑5pm; Wednesday 10am – 9 pm; Thursday 10am – 5pm; Friday 10am‑10pm (Archives close at 5); Saturday 10am‑5pm; and Sunday Noon‑5pm (Archives closed).
